Pretty in pink

Coloured trousers are pretty big news this year with some amazing shades available. Whilst the loud colours are great, the pastel versions are the perfect way to wear colour on a more day to day basis.

These Soul Cal Deluxe pair are soft to wear and are really versatile. Wear on a night out with a crisp white shirt, chunky jewellery and killer statement heels or, like me, style them up casually in various different ways.

If you love the bow tie trend but feel a little nervous of it, go for a more subtle look and make a smaller bow with a strip of ribbon and then gradually work your way up to a full on bow tie! Paired with a buttoned up denim shirt, this is a great way to look girly but with an edge.

Don’t be afraid to clash your colours! Red and pink may not be classically worn together but I think it adds interest to a casual outfit and let’s you step out of your normal wardrobe colour palette. You can add a denim shirt underneath, a wardrobe must have, to layer up on lovely textures and these cute navy boat shoes give the trousers a French feel for the summer.

Normal jeans just seem a little boring now don’t they! Lauren, The Style Tag x

Crafted Skull Dress Part Two!

On Wednesday I posted this Crafted Skull Print Body Dress which is perfect for a night out and also promised I could help your pennies stretch a little further and show you how to style it up for the day as well.

Here’s a little reminder of the evening look:

And -insert drum roll- here is the casual look:

Two outfits in one? Not bad for £25! I honestly don’t think anyone would guess that this is actually a knee length body con dress and it looks so beautiful as a top.

Due to it’s sleek fit, the material can be tucked up to create a more casual look perfect for a trip shopping or a quick mid-week drink. If you have to travel from a day to evening event, just wear as a top with jeans and pop a pair of heels in your bag and voilà, the jeans come off and you’re ready for the evening!

Tip! The best way to get the dress to lie properly is to pull the hem all the way up to the top of your chest and then slowly pull the rest of the fabric back down on itself until you reach the length you want. I pulled it down so it sits just on top of my hips but you could also tuck it into your jeans and pop a belt on to add even more detail.

Paired with my beloved ankle boots and a chunky necklace it is my perfect daytime look but you could go even more casual with a pair of Converse or pumps, a khaki jacket and a satchel.

So what do you think of this versatile 2 in 1?

Time to show off your curves

Hello, Lauren here from The Style Tag, I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday and are finally getting your head around dressing for this unseasonal rainy weather. Welly chic anyone?!  Enough of my weather grumblings, here’s an outfit worth getting excited about rain or shine…

If like me you love going out and having a few drinks with the girls, I’m sure your wardrobe is bursting at the seams with thigh skimming dresses, statement tops, flirty skirts and super short shorts. It’s a great excuse to ditch the thick black tights and finally bare your legs, but sometimes a little more fabric can do way more talking.

This Crafted Skull Print Body Dress is a more conservative look but is perfect for cocktails on a Friday night. The figure hugging shape highlights your curves and oozes a more subtle kind of confidence.

The skull print detailing stops this classic shape from being too safe and keeps the look young. Pair with killer heels, smokey eye make-up, a nude lip and keep the rest of your accessories simple to let the dress do the talking. Go for big curls to crank up the glamour or a sleek high bun to make a real statement

If you’re always looking for your pennies to stretch a little further, in my next post I’m going to style this dress causally for a day to day look (you’ll be shocked how versatile it is!) and later on in the week, show you how to get the perfect smokey eye.

Have a lovely Wednesday, Lauren x

How to make a bralet work for you

Unless you’ve been living in a cave you have got to have seen that bralets are possibly the biggest trend right now! There are so many varieties out there to choose from and so many ways to wear them. Alongside the structured bralet (this Miso Floral Bralet is a must have), these bandeau styles are really versatile and can literally be paired with everything.

Now I know that the thought of bearing your midriff can bring some out in a cold sweat but you can tailor this look to suit your individual style. To limit the amount of skin you are showing, wear high waisted skirts or trousers. If you don’t mind showing your stomach but feel a little over exposed on your top half, layer with a denim shirt or cardigan. Find how you are most comfortable, this look is all about confidence and wearing it your way…

To give you a little inspiration, here are 4 ways to style it for work, a night out and for when the sun eventually shines:

So will you give this look a try? These Flag Stripe and Aztec styles are my favourite and to twist your arm a little more they are 2 for £12. Hurrah! Head over now to see the full collection.

The devil’s in the detail

Hello you lovely lot, I’m Lauren from The Style Tag and I will be sharing with you my favourite pieces from Republic’s wealth of clothes over May. So how better to get stuck in than with an outfit for a night on the tiles for this bank holiday…

Now there is nothing I love more than getting dressed up for a night out and this shirt is perfect for a classic monochrome look.

For classic outfits like this you need to make sure it is full of interesting details, and this Miso Leopard Collar Shirt is dripping with them! The draping from the shoulders means the material hangs perfectly off you, the hidden buttons gives a sleek finish and there’s nothing like a bit of leopard print to bring out your playful side.

I have styled it in my favourite way; wet look leggings, a waist clinching belt, matching sets of bracelets and my trusty black heels, but there’s so many variations you can try.

The Head Turner

Forget the belt and let the shirt hang in all it’s glory, pair with a neon bralet underneath to add an injection of colour and add a pair of sky high heels and a statement clutch.

The Preppy Look

Button up all the way to the top and pop on a bow tie to counter the floaty material. Pair with on trend coloured jeans, a satchel and hair piled up on top of your head.

Laid Back Chic

Think Kate Moss. High waisted black jeans, the shirt tucked in so it loosely hangs over and a tailored blazer. Wear with wedges and loose curls.

If you want to recreate this look these American Apparel Disco Pants are perfect and Republic have them ready and waiting for you!

If you are headed out both nights this weekend (or all three, what else are bank holiday’s for?!) you will love the outfit in my next post this week. Clue: the boys will LOVE it!!

Denim and Leopard

Hi everybody! It’s Charlotte again, and today I’m styling two Republic items! It was a really loved day today so I decided to style this Miso Leopard Dress but I was totally stumped on which jacket to wear with it. I moved back to university this weekend and unfortunately left the majority of my clothes at home, including the blazer I’d planned to pair with this dress. After a few failed jacket combinations (leather, nude leather, navy blazer…) I decided to try it with my Miso Denim Jacket. The colour isn’t quite as bright as it appears on the website, and it’s a gorgeous muted, sort of dusty pink. I paired it with these nude flats which I’ve had forever and skin coloured tights (it was a bit chilly for bare legs!). I absolutely love leopard print but most of my leopard pieces are grey or brown, so it was great to find a leopard dress that was summery too!

Mr Blobby

Hi! It’s me, Charlotte, and today I am taking inspiration from the most unlikely of fashionistas- Mr Blobby. Who knew pink and yellow could work so well together? I really love bright colours, so I couldn’t resist this yellow AX Paris dress. It’s the perfect dress for a night out, with a leather jacket and ankle boots, but I decided to style a fun, day time look by pairing it with this pink blazer and pink Mary Jane heels. I’m really excited to wear this dress for summer with a denim jacket and a floppy hat, but I think it would also be great for the colder months with a leopard print scarf, boots and tights.

With the dismal rainy weather we’re having at the moment, an injection of colour is a great way to put a smile on your face!

Boat Dress

Hi everybody, it’s Charlotte again. Like last time, I have a summery item which I’m going to give a… let’s say more weather appropriate at the moment! As soon as I saw this Miso Boat Dress I imagined it with pretty flats, a denim jacket and a boater hat…but then I looked outside. Urgh! Bare legs and ballet flats just weren’t going to cut it. So, I had to be creative. I’d bought this pretty pink jumper last weekend (I definitely didn’t think I’d be buying jumpers in April but there you go!) and I thought it would be perfect with this dress. I then added my favourite boots and my beloved leather jacket. I’m really loving pastels right now so this dress was perfect- I love the mix of the mint green dress with the light pink jumper. The dress has a really pretty back too which I can’t wait to show off when it gets a little warmer!

Pastel Pants

Hi! I’m Charlotte, and I blog over at girlnextdoorfashion. I’m going to be the Republic blogger for April! I’m your typical girl next door, trying to look stylish every day without mile-long legs and a celebrity bank balance! I love keeping up with trends but have a student budget, so I’m always trying to be creative and find a bargain!

When I picked my lovely pieces from Republic, it was gorgeously sunny outside and perfect spring-time weather, however, now it’s cold, wet and grey, so I have a bit of a challenge on my hands with my summery pieces! But never fear, remixing is my favourite thing to do with my clothes and I absolutely love remixing a piece across seasons! I hope my posts here give you lots of inspiration for wearing your spring trends (which if you’re anything like me, you’ve been stocking up on since January!) in the slightly cooler weather.

Today I’m wearing these Soul Cal Skinny Trousers in Dusty Pink and I’d originally envisioned them with a light, breezy mint top and pretty ballet flats, but instead, I’ve styled them with a maroon jumper and a peter pan-collared blouse and boots for a perfect monochrome mid-season look.

I’ve always felt a little intimidated by pale trousers and jeans because I am a typical pear shape and don’t want to draw attention to my, ahem, more generous body parts, but the stretchy fit of these trousers are just perfect and the colour is absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to style them for summer!

How are you styling your spring pieces in the colder weather? Or are you more patient than me and waiting until it gets warmer?

Daisy Nail Art

Hello, hello!

I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend wherever you are? I’ve been having a majorly lazy one and am still in my pyjamas as we speak – it’s a trés chic look! Needless to say, this is not a day for outfit photos, so I have decided to share something a little different with you!

I have been loving the abundance of daisy prints on the Republic website, as you can see in this blog post. Being a major nail art enthusiast, I thought it might be a good look to try and work the daisy look on my nails!

(Soul Cal Deluxe Daisy JeansMiso Daisy Dress, Soul Cal Deluxe Daisy Leggings)

- Start with a base colour – I went with navy blue to match the daisy jeans in the above picture.

- Bend a kirby grip back to use as a tool to create perfectly round dots on the nail

- Using yellow nail polish, dot a few dots on the nail, leaving enough space between each for the petals

- Using white nail polish, dot around the yellow spots to create petals

- Yellow polish is usually a bit thin, so once you’ve done the petals, go back and do another blob of yellow in the middle

- Finish with a slick of topcoat to seal the design in and make it look like one smooth layer (you can see how bumpy it looks without a topcoat in the bottom-right picture above!)

I have received loads of comments on my Republic-inspired daisy nails in the past few days. My theory is that on the days you can’t be bothered to look bang-on-trend with your outfit, on-trend nails will keep your look stylish. Although, I’m not sure even daisy nails can excuse my ‘dressing gown chic’ look today!

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial, let me know if you try the floral fingertips look yourself!
